Xiaohong Li

Associate Professor, PI


Dr. Li received her Ph.D. in 2001 from the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. She then completed postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Drs. David Ong and Neil Bhowmick at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn. Dr. Li was appointed as a research assistant professor in Vanderbilt’s Department of Cancer Biology in 2009, where she was mentored by Dr. Lynn Matrisian. She joined VAI as an assistant professor in September 2012. In Jul 2020, Dr. Li joined UT as an associate professor.

Shang Su

Post-doctoral fellow
 


Shang is from Jilin Province, China. He got both his PhD and BS degrees from School of Life Sciences in Tsinghua University, China. After a short dip into biotech industry, he realized he is more enthusiastic in basic scientific research. Shang came to US and joined Dr. Xiaohong Li’s group as a post-doc in May 2019. He is currently leading/participating projects in prostate cancer bone metastasis, tumor dormancy and drug resistance.

Yawei Zhao

Post-doctoral fellow
 


Yawei is from Shandong Province, China. He became interested in biology research during his undergraduate studies and received his Ph. D. in 2020 from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. Yawei joined Dr. Xiaohong Li’s group as a post-doc in February 2020. He is currently leading/participating in projects in prostate cancer bone metastasis and drug resistance.

Ruihua Liu

Research Assistant
 


Ruihua got both her Master and Bachelor degrees from Inner Mongolia Unversity in China. Now she is working for her Ph.D degree in Inner Mongolia Unversity jointly mentored by Dr. Xiaohong Li and Dr. Haiquan Yu. She joined Li lab in Sep 2018, and is working with the project about how the bone marrow cells induce dissemnated prostate cancer cells dormancy and reactivate the dormant cells to proliferate.
